Britt & Andrew

The first guest of honor was a small black dog, scooped up by Britt in her robe and later greeted nose to nose by Andrew on the lawn. Her gown hung in a room papered in blue toile, the bridesmaids toasted under a crystal chandelier, and she stepped into the dress beside a window full of soft grey light. Andrew waited in a dark paneled room in a midnight tux.

They met up outside first, a quiet kiss under the trees with her veil catching the breeze, then sat together on a floral sofa. An older man rode with her in a vintage car to a grey shingled chapel with a white cupola. Inside, under a warm wood ceiling, the kiss happened halfway down the aisle while the pews clapped. They walked out into a cloud of petals.

The getaway car came with champagne in the back seat. At Woodway, the beach sat right beyond the tent poles, so portraits happened on the sand with an American flag flying from a rock out in the Sound. Tables under the sailcloth ran long with blue glass goblets and white hydrangea. I only had to turn around to catch the tent glowing gold at dusk.
