Color ran the whole day, and it started with Zoey's hands, painted in deep henna and held open in front of her. Her friends filled the suite in orange, fuchsia and gold, someone popped champagne, and the laughter barely stopped for the makeup brush. Down on the beach, Akshay waited in a shawl-lapel tux with his hands folded while she crossed the sand behind him.
The ceremony sat right at the edge of the beach, under a square arch hung with strands of marigolds and packed with hot pink roses and orange blooms. Yellow garlands lined the aisle. She walked in between an older man in a tux and a woman in saffron silk, and when they kissed, the whole wedding party behind them lost it. The garlands swung in the sea breeze the entire time.
Portraits came in waves. A kiss framed by hanging marigolds, a slow walk in front of the Beach House sign, then a barefoot run along the waterline with her hem gathered in one hand. Inside, long tables were set in coral and pink, bridesmaids read their toasts off folded paper, and the first dance opened onto a crowd that had clearly been waiting for it.
