Inside Il Palio, the room was almost all white, while snow sat piled along the walks outside. Rows of white chairs faced a huge arch built entirely from baby's breath, set against floor-to-ceiling glass that looked out on bare trees and a snowy slope. Tall rose centerpieces floated over a long table dressed in blush. It was a small guest list, and the space was built for exactly that, close and bright and quiet until the music started.

Abigail came down the aisle in a sleek strapless column gown on the arm of a man in a black brocade tuxedo, guests in their seats turning to watch. Dontre waited under the arch in an ivory dinner jacket with black lapels. They traded rings in front of the officiant with the winter light pouring through the glass behind them, and the kiss came with her veil already drifting. Their style carried every frame of the day, sharp and simple and entirely theirs.

Afterward, they stepped outside for a few minutes in the cold. Against a lit evergreen and banks of snow, the two of them looked like a magazine cover, and back inside, a dark gallery wall with one framed painting made a moody second backdrop. The reception stayed close. They sat behind a wall of baby's breath with a Mr and Mrs sign, cut a pale pink cake, and then the older guests took over the dance floor.
