Kevin started the day in a low armchair by a tall window, cobalt suit buttoned, fiddling with his cuffs and watching the courtyard. That calm didn't last long, because his groomsmen showed up with swords. They lined up in front of the stone fireplace in the lobby, blades crossed toward the lens, and a friend in a navy satin dress stood right in the middle of them, gripping a sword of her own like it was the most normal thing in the world.
Monica wore an off-the-shoulder lace gown with a sparkling tiara and a long cathedral veil that the wind grabbed the second she stepped outside. The wedding party walked the lawn together, bridesmaids in soft blue carrying white roses, the guys in bow ties. Inside, she came down the aisle on the arm of a gray-haired man in a tuxedo, into a bright room lined with brass sconces. She was already in tears by the vows, the officiant reading from a black folder at the mic, and Kevin kept his eyes on her the whole time.
The reception hall is all dark wood and tall windows, with bulbs strung across the ceiling. Family dances came first, with guests clapping in a loose ring around the floor. Then the Greek money dance started, part of Monica's family tradition, and bills ended up tucked into her neckline, her sleeves, and Kevin's collar. By the end of the night his groomsmen had him up on their shoulders, arms spread wide, laughing straight into the lights.
