Hunter & Nick

Roseland Cottage is impossible to mistake for anywhere else. The whole house is painted a deep salmon pink, with pointed gables, carved trim and diamond-paned windows, and a formal boxwood garden laid out in front. Hunter and Nick grew up nearby, as high school sweethearts whose old school stands just across the street. On a gray, soft-lit day, that pink facade glowed behind every frame.

The groomsmen lined up on the lawn in matching blue suits and green bow ties, and the bridesmaids posed in sage gowns under clear umbrellas in case the sky opened. It held. Guests filled rows of folding chairs on the grass, and the ceremony took place with the house rising behind the couple. Afterward the two of them slipped inside, where stained glass and dark carved wood made a moody, warm contrast to the bright lawn.

Back outside, they walked hand in hand past the front door and then stood together in the boxwood garden, hydrangeas gone pink behind them. The reception moved to a big wood-beamed hall with a donut table and a small cake. A dance-off broke out early, and the floor stayed full until the last song, with Hunter and Nick kissing in the middle of it all.
