Fallon & Dom

A copy of Guess How Much I Love You sat among the details that morning, next to a hexagon ring box, a perfume bottle and cards printed with the perfect blend. Fallon's gown hung in a window framed by yellow curtains, and she read a letter at the sill before a bridesmaid in blush did up the long row of buttons down her back. Out on a stone patio, Dom's groomsmen in blue suits huddled over something on a table, then lounged for a photo like they owned the place.

They saw each other first on the lawn by a set of stone steps, while her bridesmaids hung back and watched. Before the ceremony they traded private vows from small cloth-bound books, and she cried through hers. The ceremony itself was out in a field beneath a big, wide tree, with a friend officiating from a leather notebook. When it ended, Dom dipped her into a kiss in the middle of the aisle, rows of white chairs full of guests clapping on both sides.

Toward evening they walked the field in soft light, a white barn and a red one behind them. The reception filled a white tent with draped ceilings, chandeliers and a sweetheart table spelling out Mr and Mrs. There were toasts from the wedding party, Dom's slow dance with a woman in pale blue, and a lot of arms in the air. Near the end, the two of them, changed into t-shirts and sneakers, walked out through a storm of bubbles on the brick path.
